Hugo is from the historic cobblestone street mountain town of Antigua, Guatemala. Antigua is known around the world for its Spanish schools, and Hugo has been there from the very beginning, having taught Spanish for an incredible 35 years. He really enjoys painting, playing the marimba, and of course – even after 35 years – teaching Spanish!
After a few years in the corporate world making use of her marketing degree, Armida went back to school to pursue her passion – education. She has now been teaching for more than 5 years, working for Berlitz developing verbal and writing modules, teaching primary students, and working with special needs children. She loves education, reading, and sitting down for a great movie.
Walterine is from the beautiful country of Honduras, known for its Mayan culture and wonderful beaches. She has a degree in business management, but quickly discovered that her passion was teaching. Before starting with us Walterine was a language teacher in bilingual English/Spanish schools for over 7 years. She loves being with her family and spending time at the beach!
Carlos has over 15 years of experience teaching Spanish both in schools and the corporate arena. He holds a degree in teaching Spanish as a second language from the Central University of Ecuador, one of the oldest universities in the Americas. Carlos has a passion for teaching languages! In his free time he enjoys reading, playing soccer, and singing.
Luz is originally from Honduras, where she studied Business Administration at two prestigious universities in Honduras, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras and Universidad Catolica de Honduras. Luz taught at a number of different levels for over 9 years in bilingual English/Spanish schools! She now lives in El Salvador where she loves spending time with her family.
Vidal has almost 25 years of experience teaching Spanish. He holds a degree of specialization in teaching Spanish as a second language from the School of language Sciences at the University of San Carlos. Previously, he was the technical director of a Spanish school in Antigua. He loves playing futbol (soccer!) and spending time with his wife, son, and daughter.
Jose Pablo Ortega
Originally from Mexico, Jose now lives in Managua, the bustling cultural and political center of Nicaragua. Jose has a degree in Economics and Finance from Thomas More University in Managua, and outside of tutoring with us here at LanguageConvo, he is a business advisor at the Nicaraguan Office of International Affairs!
Silvia is from the lively capital of El Salvador, San Salvador. Before working with us, she taught online Spanish lessons in her free time for a number of years, and worked full time as a manager of a call center where she directed more than 100 employees, and coordinated top-level marketing analysis and business costs. She loves working with young students!
Jose lives in Managua, Nicaragua, where he studied Political Science at one of the most prestigious colleges in Central America, Ave Maria University. He studied abroad at Louisiana State for more than a year, and started tutoring Spanish during his time there. We'll be watching the Nicaraguan presidential elections in 10 years, Jose has his sights set high!
Mayra is from a small city just outside of Antigua, in the moutains of western Guatemala. She has been teaching Spanish for more than 12 years! Her love of teaching stems from being able to share experiences with her students from around the world. A quote directly from Mayra: “I’m happy and fun!”
